Three Session Formats, One Approach
Whether your family needs a single structured conversation or an extended programme across several months, Mendways has a format to fit.
Back to HomeHow Facilitation Works at Mendways
Every format follows the same underlying approach. What changes is the duration, the depth, and the scope of what the family is working through.
Step 1: Intake Call
A short call — around 20 minutes — where we discuss the topic, the participants, and whether a facilitation session is a good fit. No commitment required.
Step 2: Session(s)
The facilitated conversation itself. The facilitator opens the session, manages the structure and timing, and ensures every participant has a fair opportunity to speak.
Step 3: Documentation
A written summary of what was discussed and agreed is sent to participants within a few days. A follow-up note arrives at the agreed interval after the work concludes.
FORMAT 01
Single Conversation Facilitation
A facilitated three-hour session for a family or pair who want a structured opportunity to discuss a topic that has been difficult to raise at home. The facilitator's role is to keep the conversation balanced and to support each voice — not to advocate, diagnose, or counsel. Preceded by a short phone intake; participants receive a written summary of agreements reached and a follow-up note one month later. Suitable for two to six adult family members.
- One three-hour facilitated session
- Phone intake call included
- Written summary of agreements
- Follow-up note at one month
- 2–6 adult participants

FORMAT 02
Three-Session Facilitation Block
A block of three facilitated sessions scheduled across six weeks. Suitable for families working through a longer transition — a household relocation, the arrival of a new family member, or the reordering of shared responsibilities. The facilitator supports the family in arriving at its own agreements and provides written summaries after each session. No legal advice is given. The block includes intake conversations and a final follow-up note two months after the third session.
- Three facilitated sessions across six weeks
- Written summary after each session
- Intake conversations included
- Follow-up note at two months after block ends
- Suitable for sustained transitions

FORMAT 03
Long-Form Facilitation Programme
An extended programme of six facilitated sessions across six months for families navigating a significant ongoing transition. The programme is structured but flexible — the family and the facilitator agree at the start on topics and sequence, and adjust as the work unfolds. Facilitatively and reflectively focused; no legal advice or representation. Suitable for families of up to eight adults. Includes a printed workbook, all session summaries, and a written year-end note.
